Christmas apple cake (itsHungarian.com holiday recipes)

Ingredients:

For the pasta:

22,5 dekagram butter

30 dekagram flour

4 dekagram powdered sugar

a pinch of salt

For the stuffing:

4 big apples

6 dekagram powdered sugar

a pinch of salt

For the unction:

1 egg

2 tablespoon water

Make a pasta from the ingredients, flatten it, roll into a foil and let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes. Peel the apples, cut it into four pieces, remove the core, and slice it. Mix the salt and the sugar, and spin the apples in it multiple times.

Divide the pasta into two halves. Knead the first half round, and pad it into a slightly greased ca. 24 cm cake mold. Cover it with the apple. Knead the other half of the pasta, and cut 2 cm wide stripes with a jagging-iron. Cover the apple stuffing with the stripes making a grid.

Scramble the egg with water and spread it on the grid. Bake it on pre-heated oven’s lower shelf on 180 °C for ca. 50 minutes (160 °C if you have convection oven, or level 2, of you have gas-oven). After cooling, sprinkle it with powdered sugar.

Serve the apple cake with freshly whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
