Király Bath

Appropriately, we start our virtual tour at one of the two baths that survived since the Turkish times, and which is also the oldest spa in Budapest.

Built in 1565 in one of the most beautiful districts of Buda by Arslan, the Pasha of Buda, this wonderful monument regained its original splendor, thank to a total renovation in 1950. Its water comes from the territory of the Lukács Bath. Spa services like the thermal- and swimming pools, sauna, steam bath are part of the are included in the entry fee, the various refreshing medical and therapeutic massage services are available for an additional fee.

Its water is especially recommended for those suffering of degenerative joint disease, rheumatoid arthritis, intervertebral disc problems and in case of chronic calcium deficiency of the skeletal system. The spa is open to men and women alike.

Széchenyi Bath

Europe’s biggest spa facility is located in the City Park of Budapest. Since its renovation the beautiful outdoor department attracts thousands of tourists.

Its water contains sodium, calcium and magnesium bicarbonate, sulphate and chloride. It has the hottest – 74 °C – spring and the hottest pool here is 38 °C. Guests can use the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, the sauna, steam bath, light therapy cabin and aqua fitness with no additional fee.

Gellért Bath

The bath connected to Hotel Gellért, which is located on the shore of the river Danube is the most popular among tourists. It is one of the oldest spas, there are evidence of its existence from the XV century. The consistency of the water is the same as the water of the Széchenyi Bath. The original Art Nouveau style of spa and its artistic mosaics survived and that gives its special and unique atmosphere.

Located at the Árpád bridge in the 13th district, this spa began its operation in 1948.  It has ten pools of different shapes, sizes and water temperature and it’s the only one in the line of spas – along with the Széchenyi Bath – that integrates beach services next to the classic spa services. Its thermal water is able to help rejuvenating those who suffer from musculoskeletal and joint illness. Apart from the pools, sauna, steam bath and a variety of massages, there are swimming lessons, water cannon, children’s games, a wave pool and even foot tennis court is available for guests. Some of these are only seasonally obtainable.

Rudas Bath

Located at the foot of the Erzsébet bridge this spa that is of high artistic value was also built during the Ottoman occupation. Its speacial feature is that the ten feet diameter dome is held by eight columns and there’s an octogonal pool in the middle. This is the only bath that is also open for the nights during weekends, when women and men can enjoy bathing together. On weekdays there are days only for men and others only for women. Visitors can use the thermal bath and spa services which include skin firming massage, aroma massage, medical massage, underwater jet massage and there’s a small, separate pool for those with infectious diseases.

Szent Lukács Bath

Famous for having the only hot mud bath in the capital, the Szent Lukács is located at the foot of the Margit bridge. It has both swimming pool and spa services; the water temperature of the pools vary between 22 °C and 40 °C. A whole sauna world can be found here: it has salt sauna, infrared sauna, aroma steam bath, naturist sauna, igloo, tepidarium, Finnish sauna and heated Roman benches. Physiotherapy, mud treatment and thermal water driking therapy are also available.
